Whats wrong with my grandma

Whats wrong with my grandma?
My grandma is 77. When she was in Cambodia before living in the U.S, the pul pot(the Vet that practically destroyed Cambodia) was there. they killed my grandpa and my uncles. only her and my mom survived. now, she is very sick. everyday she says shes "really" sick. she complains everyday. shes so annoying now. she always goes in my room and starts to be nosy. my mom takes care of her everyday. more than she takes care of my family. and if you dont listen to my grandma, shell start crying and say your mean and a bad person. she is sooo selfish. she likes to play slots a lot. she has a gambling problem. A BAD ONE. The doctors cant cure her sickness. She has leg cramps, high blood pressure, and if she smells any chemicals shell get sick for almost a week. lately, shes been coming up with excuses. like now she cant sit in teh back of the car anymore because of the material on the chair and stuff. she is giving me stress everyday freaking day. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER? =[

I think you should have a bit more compassion and empathy towards your grandma. She has been through so much, people close to her being killed etc. Your Grandma just craves love and attention as she knows she won't be around for much longer. Bear it and spoil her rotten.
3 :
thats the same story for me... just try to live with it and try to ignore... i guess its just that age...
4 :
I'm sorry to hear this but I have no idea I suggest that your family should check her into a good nursing home. not the terrible inexpensive kind. Once again I apoligize I don't know hon. But thats the best I can think of right now.
5 :
there's nothing wrong with her. she's old and dying, this is part of the process. she's had a tough life, i hope yours is better.
6 :
O.K. Your grandma is 77 years old, almost 80. She is trying to copy with life at that age. She's not herself like when she was much younger. People change when they get older. Have compassion. Give her some easy task to do, even if it's just folding napkins. Look up dementia.
7 :
I know what it feels like to be sick all the time, and it is horrible and you do feel miserable. I am sure that she thinks she will be like this the rest of her life. I have a nosy mom, and it is because they don't have anything exciting in their own life, so they go looking for it. If you have anything personal find a hiding place for it. Your mom feels like she has to take care of her mom, you will feel the same when your mom gets older, Our parents become like little children when they get older, especially if they are sick. Your grandma has had a hard like with lots of disappointments and heartaches. It would be hard to live through a war in your backyard and losing everyone you love and being alone with a child. Try to be patient and love on her, she needs you. When you get older you can mvoe out and be one your own.
8 :
She's getting old. I say that with respect. You probably won't have her for very many years. I know it's stressful but try and understand. Is it really so hard of a thing for you to treat her with a little compassion? You would make them all proud to have a more gentle spirit and it would help you to enjoy your family more. It's worth a try.
9 :
Sounds like your grandmother is sick...77 years old is not young. Each person ages differently. She might really be sick with the leg cramps, high blood pressure, and the chemical sensitivity...Remember, there is no telling what kind of chemicals she was exposed to when she was living in Cambodia. This could account to her sensitivity to chemicals and materials. Sounds like she is scared and insecure as well...How would you feel if your husband and brothers were killed? The gambling is probably something that brings her a bit of pleasure. Also, she grew up in a different culture than you. Just try to sit and talk with her. Maybe she is scared, and just needs to affirm that the family loves her. Talk with your mom, and get your mom's view as well...She won't be with you forever, and you could miss out on some great stories about your mother when she was a little girl, and even some stories about your grandmother.
10 :
Hve compassion. Try understanding her, she had lots in life. Her life is short and she is suffering.
11 :
You need to put a keyed lock on your bedroom door. Consider getting a little job after school or go study at a friend's house so you don't have to hang around your house. Her gambling problem could well be the onset of dementia... it happens a lot. She will literally gamble away her entire Social Security check before buying groceries. Some will get so far into it that they get in trouble with the local mob. Ask your mother to take a walk around the block with you, then use that time to TALK with your mother: Your grandmother looks to be sliding into dementia... the gambling habit and all the other bad behavior is both a symptom and will not get better on their own. Your mom needs to take her to a different kind of doctor for a mental assessment so she can get a medical power of attorney to handle your grandma's affairs for her... and will probably be using that to put her into an assisted-care facility when the time comes... which will probably be sooner than your mother thinks. Mention that there are some medications that actually aggravate a gambling problem... so her medications need to be examined.

Question for ex-pats living in Thailand who have traveled and know Cambodia

Question for ex-pats living in Thailand who have traveled and know Cambodia.?
Question for ex-pats living in Thailand who have traveled around Cambodia. What to expect and what not to expect. Funny,I have lived in Thailand for years and the only time I have ever been in Cambodia was crossing over for a boarder run years ago.I have-other than reading different opinions on it-no real idea of the place and have never traveled there but am ready to go.Okay, from what I have read it is very different than Thailand which seems hard to believe because I have been to some backward places in the Isan here and I am have also traveled to some of the more dangerous places in the world like walking around downtown Kingston,Jamaica at night or in the outskirts of Lima,Peru(and I don't mean in a suit w/ a rolling suitcase like a confused lost tourist,I was staying there ) which were 2 of the more worrisome adventures I have ever had in this world but my point is that after traveling the world to many of it's darkest locations I am by no means a newbie. So how does Cambodia hold up against the rest of the world's more seedy locations. Are there good beaches and OK guesthouses to stay at there.I already know about the land mine problem but I just want some good advice on where to go and where not to go.

I think my information goes back about 5 years on a trip to Angkor Wat which is definitely worth the trip. The bus ride in was a nightmare - the road a bumpy potholed mess with 30 yr olds saying I am too old for this - they delayed arrival so that we would come in after dark [ hopefully frightened and would stay at their guesthouse ] - they locked the doors so we could not get off the bus once in Siem Riep. The previously nice tour aides became screaming maniacs. When they finally opened the doors, rather than have customers everyone scattered. Bring a camera - fly in if you can or come up from Phnom Penh. Angkor Wat might just be THE greatest wonder of the world. About 8 years ago, I was in Phonm Penh. It was interesting. A little wild west but the clue was not to go out after dark. I was visiting Thai friends who were working there and they all had stories that ended with bullets coming through car windows - but always at night. Everyone said not to wander the streets at night. The Killing fields are chilling. I have heard good things abt Sihanoukville but never been. But best of all probably is that you can stop in Koh Chang on the way. Maybe bring an extra $150 and see if you can topic the 5x record.

The beach in Cambo, sihanoukville is very nice, nicer than any Thai beach. Phnom Phen is a little dangerous at night but not overly. About the same as Pattaya beach road at 1 am.

How much would it cost to get vaccinated in Japan for a trip to SE Asia?
I live in Japan and I'm planning a possible trip to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam. I'm wondering if anybody knows how much it would cost to receive all the proper vaccinations and get a prescription of malaria pills.

go to the web site http://www.cdc.gov/travel/eastasia.htm There u will get a toll free number there is also an email form U can request your requuirements
2 :
call the Tokyo Medical and Surgical CLinic. Even if you aren't in Tokyo they can give you a rough idea. They speak English. 03-3436-3028.
3 :
Ask your Japanese friend to translate following webpage. The cost depends, however, most vaccin costs more than JPY4,200. And some need you a few times. The web site says you need at least 2 month before your depature for those injection and vaccinated.
4 :
I'm going to Vietnam this summer so I'm not sure about that one yet. For thailand and cambodia you need hepatitis if you dont have that. After that you just need malaria tablets, depending on where you go. Kinds of tablets vary, there are a number of them. The kind I got in Japan set me back 10000-15000yen I think. (I also got japanese enciphalitis (sp?) shot for like 5000yen but that was just for laos) It's a awesome trip, youre gonna love it! good luck

Why do people criticize US union laborers vs the horrible work/living conditions of their foreign counterparts

Why do people criticize US union laborers vs the horrible work/living conditions of their foreign counterparts?
...along with their cheap currency? Why do people who claim to love America suggest that US workers should live and work in the same conditions as workers in 3rd world countries? Instead of thinking beyond GOP talking points, why don't these people dig an inch deeper to compare US safety and benefits laws vs Cambodian safety and benefits laws along with the cost of a home in the US vs a hut in Cambodia? Charles G (below) Unions are the reason non-union workers have laws to protect them.

It is an ECONOMIC FACT - not a GOP talking point fact - that Artificially high labor costs are bad. That is what a union does. It creates wages that are above the equilibrium. Take an economics class...
2 :
Because people simply have no idea how Unions work. Sure there are corrupt Unions, just like there are corrupt companies (Enron, Madoff securities) They simply parrot what Limbaugh says and take his word as fact, despite the distortedness of the truth, the leaving out of details and complete generalization. What people just don't get is that in order for a Union to get an agreement detailing wages and whathaveyou, they have to negotiate with management. That means management has to agree. If management doesn't agree, there is no contract. But it's easier for people to parrot rather than to do just a little bit of research. Edit: Were Turt, take another economic class. When people have money to spend, they will spend it and the economy grows. Why don't you work for me, I promise to pay you less than a quarter of what you're worth, make you work long hours and through the weekend in order to make me millions. I won't give you any health benefits either, that's your problem.
3 :
Simple. They don't want to live in a society that treats all people like they have value and worth. They want to live in an elitist society where only people who have achieved a certain standard of power and financial prosperity get to be acknowledged as worthwhile and worthy of any real quality of life.
4 :
Most US workers do NOT belong to a labor union. I think it is about 14% who do. I'm sure labor unions want to take responsibility for the "good" labor conditions in America, but, IMO, the labor unions actually have very little influence on working conditions, since most jobs are non-union. Also, IMO, there are "good" unions and there are "bad" unions. Good unions increase the productivity of the industry by offering training, etc., to the workers, enabling an economically viable increase in wages. It turns out to be a win-win situation for workers and management both. Bad unions demand higher wages without a corresponding increase in productivity, by "attacking" the excesses of management etc., and will frequently destroy the industry.
5 :
Because it's convenient to the argument they are trying to make, US laborers are too expensive. The other info, more context or basic connection to reality does not support that view. Social Darwinists always insist on comparing in favor of their inhumanity. In all the fields you mention the US should surely aim higher instead of justifying bad conditions by comparing to worse. Following that logic consistently is a road without end Delina's answer in the source and the links she presents show a very different picture
6 :
Union-busting Republicans are consistently disingenuous about labor. Out of one side of their mouths, they speak of the "right to work," while the other side is supporting "optimal" non-zero levels (i.e., levels palatable to their capitalist cronies) of unemployment, yet you expect them to sound rational?
7 :
I would better like to compare the Quality of Non-Union product from Honda's Marysville, Ohio plant to the Quality of the Big Three's unionized plant's in the US. And Honda isn't asking for a bailout! Oh, I forgot - it is about promoting complacency! Yes, Old Fat Stupid people like Unions because everyone is equal in a Union.
