Why do people criticize US union laborers vs the horrible work/living conditions of their foreign counterparts

Why do people criticize US union laborers vs the horrible work/living conditions of their foreign counterparts?
...along with their cheap currency? Why do people who claim to love America suggest that US workers should live and work in the same conditions as workers in 3rd world countries? Instead of thinking beyond GOP talking points, why don't these people dig an inch deeper to compare US safety and benefits laws vs Cambodian safety and benefits laws along with the cost of a home in the US vs a hut in Cambodia? Charles G (below) Unions are the reason non-union workers have laws to protect them.

It is an ECONOMIC FACT - not a GOP talking point fact - that Artificially high labor costs are bad. That is what a union does. It creates wages that are above the equilibrium. Take an economics class...

Because people simply have no idea how Unions work. Sure there are corrupt Unions, just like there are corrupt companies (Enron, Madoff securities) They simply parrot what Limbaugh says and take his word as fact, despite the distortedness of the truth, the leaving out of details and complete generalization. What people just don't get is that in order for a Union to get an agreement detailing wages and whathaveyou, they have to negotiate with management. That means management has to agree. If management doesn't agree, there is no contract. But it's easier for people to parrot rather than to do just a little bit of research. Edit: Were Turt, take another economic class. When people have money to spend, they will spend it and the economy grows. Why don't you work for me, I promise to pay you less than a quarter of what you're worth, make you work long hours and through the weekend in order to make me millions. I won't give you any health benefits either, that's your problem.

Simple. They don't want to live in a society that treats all people like they have value and worth. They want to live in an elitist society where only people who have achieved a certain standard of power and financial prosperity get to be acknowledged as worthwhile and worthy of any real quality of life.

Most US workers do NOT belong to a labor union. I think it is about 14% who do. I'm sure labor unions want to take responsibility for the "good" labor conditions in America, but, IMO, the labor unions actually have very little influence on working conditions, since most jobs are non-union. Also, IMO, there are "good" unions and there are "bad" unions. Good unions increase the productivity of the industry by offering training, etc., to the workers, enabling an economically viable increase in wages. It turns out to be a win-win situation for workers and management both. Bad unions demand higher wages without a corresponding increase in productivity, by "attacking" the excesses of management etc., and will frequently destroy the industry.

Because it's convenient to the argument they are trying to make, US laborers are too expensive. The other info, more context or basic connection to reality does not support that view. Social Darwinists always insist on comparing in favor of their inhumanity. In all the fields you mention the US should surely aim higher instead of justifying bad conditions by comparing to worse. Following that logic consistently is a road without end Delina's answer in the source and the links she presents show a very different picture

Union-busting Republicans are consistently disingenuous about labor. Out of one side of their mouths, they speak of the "right to work," while the other side is supporting "optimal" non-zero levels (i.e., levels palatable to their capitalist cronies) of unemployment, yet you expect them to sound rational?

I would better like to compare the Quality of Non-Union product from Honda's Marysville, Ohio plant to the Quality of the Big Three's unionized plant's in the US. And Honda isn't asking for a bailout! Oh, I forgot - it is about promoting complacency! Yes, Old Fat Stupid people like Unions because everyone is equal in a Union.
