Oddly enough it seems to be getting worse in the last 6 months or so. Things were better for a time but recently it seems that there has been a rash of theft and violence that impacts the Xpat community a lot more than your basic tourist. I have several friends that have had home invasions and being mugged on the street, while not common, appears to be on the increase. Be street smart and aware and you can miss most of this trouble. but it is there.
