My wife is humiliating me & my friends, but I can't understand why, and don't know what to do

My wife is humiliating me & my friends, but I can't understand why, and don't know what to do...?
I live & work in Cambodia now, but used to live & work for a very long time in the Philippines. I was single for a long time, and then my dad's wife set me up in a relationship with her cousin. Anyhow, when my friends from the Philippines came over to Cambodia for a while, my wife started acting strange: she would be perfectly sweet, nice, caring, and funny as long as it was just her and I in our apartment, but whenever my friends would ask us to join them for lunch or whatever, somewhere between our apartment and wherever we would meet them she would become aggressively spiteful & disrespectful. She would call me an asshole loudly with people around (people I know, too. You see, my friends were staying in the hotel that I work at while they were here in Cambodia), she would push/throw my hand away if I tried to hold her hand, she would refuse to talk to me, she wouldn't sit next to me, and wouldn't reply if anyone spoke to her. My friends treated it lightly and joked about it afterward when my wife wasn't around, but it was very insulting and unpleasant when it was happening: my friends were being very nice and paying for everything, all the restaurant bills, everything. My wife never said "thank you" or anything. After my wife and I would go home, she would be nice again, but when I asked her WHY she was being like that, she just said "Nothing" or "I don't know".... I can't understand this, and I don't know what to do. It's stressing me out and angering me to the point that I'm starting to think I wouldn't mind leaving her. She's raising my blood pressure & insulting my friends.... is this supposed to happen in a normal relationship? I was under the impression that a "significant other" was supposed to make you life EASIER and HAPPIER, not stressful and humiliating....

She sounds like she is on some sort of weird power trip and is trying to humiliate U in front of your friends, I would never do that to my husband and I would always be polite and say thanks. Tell her she had better stop doing that or U will put her in her place -- right on the street.

maybe she are jealous of your friends and see how close y'all are. just for awhile when you go out with your friends just leave her at home.
3 :
My guess is that she is behaving to you, as she has seen all her life, a woman treat her man in front of others -- like SHE is queen, and couldn't give a damn about him.... Does her mother treat her father with contempt, by any chance?

Will this phone work in Asia (Cambodia)

Will this phone work in Asia (Cambodia)?
My mom is going to Cambodia this summer and she needed a simple, cheap phone and my dad bought her a Nokia 2720. Thing is we have no clue if it will work abroad We live in Canada and I think it's a FIDO phone.

Your mom needs to have a Cambodia Sim Card(she can buy it there, it costs like 10$ or 15$ there) and your mom phone has to be unlock (which means that the phone can be use in any company.) I went to Cambodia and i also took my cellphone with me, but i had to take out my phone sim card and changed it to the Cambodia sim card. There are also many phone companies in Cambodia. I heard "013" phone company is good for call international, just in case if your mom want to call to Canada. I think she can ask someone there for help. It's really simple, just make sure the phone that your dad bought is unlock and she can buy the sim card in Cambodia and refill with some amount of money, then she's good to go.

Vietnam is more like... (Cambodia, Laos, Thai) or (Japan, China, Korea.)

Vietnam is more like... (Cambodia, Laos, Thai) or (Japan, China, Korea.)?
Alright, well I am doing a little project on Vietnam for my class... and I was wondering if Vietnam was CULTURALLY more like (Cambodia, Laos, Thai, Burma, etc.) or (Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong.. etc.). At first I thought Vietnam was a lot more like Cambodia, Laos, etc. because they lived near these countries, and should have been influenced by them. But since China did take over Vietnam at one point, I was not so sure. I am Vietnamese myself and a lot of our traditions seem to come from China.... as for CITIZENS, I was just wondering you guys thought Vietnamese people looked more like (Cambodia, Laos, Thai, Burma, etc.) people or (Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong.. etc.) people. And by the way, how is Vietnam's economy? Do you think they are ranked up with (Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong.. etc.) or (Cambodia, Laos, Thai, Burma, etc.). Keep in mind I am asking three questions on Culture, Citizens (appearance), and economy. Thank you!

Well Vietnam and all of those other cultures are not similar at all... Well Vietnamese looks like their neighboring countries. Economy: They do produce similar items like Rice, and fruits of the same kind,
2 :
They look like Thais, Cambodians, and Laotians. Even if they were influenced by the Chinese, the culture is far from the Standard Oriental (Japanese, Korean, Chinese). Chinese culture is present everywhere in this part of Asia. There are important communities there. It's more South East Asian. I noticed this firsthand.

Vietnam is culturally more akin to Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand (Southeast Asia) than to China, Taiwan, Korea (East Asia). While Vietnamese was influenced to a great extent by China (chopsticks, noodles, Chu Nom script), even to the point of near colonization - they retained their culture and promoted nationalism from the moment they gained independence from China up to the present-day. The modern-day peoples of Southern China (Guangdong, Hong Kong, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang, Shanghai) are all descendants from former Yueh (Viet) peoples who lived in an area which stretched from Champa in Southeast Asia up to the Yellow RIver. (Viet Nam means "Southern Yueh or Southern Viets" - these so-called Southern Chinese [like Hongkongers, etc.] were traditionally the "Northern Yueh or Northern Viets" who adopted Chinese culture and language during the Han dynasty of China) With regards to appearance, I personally think that Vietnamese people are way in the middle between East Asians and Southeast Asians - they have the straight hair, thin lips, almond eyes, and aquiline noses of the East Asians, as well as the brown skin, black hair, and well-built bodies of Southeast Asians. Those who live in Northern Vietnam tend to look more Chinese, and those in Southern Vietnam tend to look somewhat Khmer or Southeast Asian. Economy-wise, Vietnam is already booming, and is a developing country. However, its' economic prowess does not match that of neighboring Tigers, such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore. It nevertheless now have built highways and modern infrastructure.

Rat meat in demand in Cambodia as inflation bites. Talk about inflation

Rat meat in demand in Cambodia as inflation bites. Talk about inflation? Your thoughts?
Wed Aug 27, 2:44 AM ET PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - The price of rat meat has quadrupled in Cambodia this year as inflation has put other meat beyond the reach of poor people, officials said on Wednesday. With consumer price inflation at 37 percent according to the latest central bank estimate, demand has pushed a kilogram of rat meat up to around 5,000 riel (69 pence) from 1,200 riel last year. Spicy field rat dishes with garlic thrown in have become particularly popular at a time when beef costs 20,000 riel a kg. Officials said rats were fleeing to higher ground from flooded areas of the lower Mekong Delta, making it easier for villagers to catch them. "Many children are happy making some money from selling the animals to the markets, but they keep some for their family," Ly Marong, an agriculture official, said by telephone from the Koh Thom district on the border with Vietnam. "Not only are our poor eating it, but there is also demand from Vietnamese living on the border with us." He estimated that Cambodia supplied more than a tonne of live rats a day to Vietnam. Rats are also eaten widely in Thailand, while a state government in eastern India this month encouraged its people to eat. (Reporting by Ek Madra; Editing by Alan Raybould and Paul Tait)

well meat is meat (says a vegetarian). rats are seen as filthy animals, but then again so are pigs and people like pork so... i don't know how much of our "recession" has to do with what's happening in cambodia but as bad as it is here, we're still fortunate.

Ugh - I hope they have salt and pepper...
