i live in the usa. my cousin live in cambodia and is sending me money to buy her an iphone because it cheaper here. she want a lock phone. does anyone know what the process of buying the iphone? do i buy it at apple or at&t? and what is a lock phone? i dont know anything about cell phones.

You can probably find it cheapest on line at www.amazon.com but apple works too. im pretty sure you can get it at att.

She probably wants an unlocked phone so that it can be used in Cambodia. An unlocked phone is a cell phone that is not linked or locked to work with a specific cell phone company and can be used with any GSM provider. You can't buy it at Apple, AT&T, WalMart, etc. without a 2 year plan. You will have to get it online. Make sure you deal with a reputable seller.

You've to buy the phone and then cancel the contract. Then you've to send the phone to Cambodia. Your cousin is looking for locked phone so that she can unlock it herself. I wouldn't suggest that. Your cousin might brick the phone while unlocking. I would rather suggest to buy unlocked iPhone to avoid hassles. If you need unlocked iPhone cheaper, you can mail me or talk with me on Yahoo!
