Does anyone know if it is still possible to live in Laos/Cambodia on 5-7USD/day

Does anyone know if it is still possible to live in Laos/Cambodia on 5-7USD/day?
I am wanting to do some travelling there, as cheap as I can do it, and I'm going there with 3,000 USD minimum...anyone want to tell me if that would be possible? also...I know it's a cliche, but how hard is it to find work teaching english or something in Cambodia or Laos (specifically, Vientiane or Phnom Penh)? thanks, and any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated

In Lao you can live well enough (including accommodation) on about 300 USD per month. Teaching jobs can pay about 10 USD per hour but this won't include stuff like health insurance which you should definitely get. So certainly teaching will help a great deal to extend your stay in either of those countries and also it's a great way to meet locals and give you a greater insight into their society and culture than if you were just an average tourist. To get work in either of those countries you really need to be there. Simply get the Yellow Pages (or the local equivalent) and go knocking on doors till you find work.
