what does it take to get someone from another country U.S citizenship through marriage?
she is from cambodia, and wants to move here to the U.S to live with the rest of her family, who I have met. I am told I will have to fly over to cambodia, marry her there, and then, fly her back in a few months, and marry her here, stay married for 2 years, and then get divorced. what are you thoughts on this?

Sounds like immigration fraud

immigration fraud, the officers from homeland security will interview you guys and they have lie detectors so it's not a smart idea, she'll most likely be deported and banned 10 years from the U.S. and you'll be acused for immigration fraud and maybe go to jail.

You should only marry her if you truly love her, otherwise it would be wrong. If you want to help her as a friend consult an immigration attorney.

It is fraud, but since you are staying married for the required amount of time, it is not technically fraud. Keep your mouth shut with EVERYONE ABOUT THIS. You will need to do things like prove you live together after she gets here. You will have to go through several interviews. They could investigate if they suspect fraud. I hope she is paying you a great deal of money for this. It used to be a revolving door of people doing this. Marry, immigrate, divorce and make $20,000 a pop. Do it a few times a year and it made a damned good income in the 50-60's. Now the government has cracked down and it is not easy anymore. Wish you the best of luck. =============== Life is so simple, but we insist on making it complicated Confucius 551 - 479 BC =============== Peace Jim .

It is because people like you that the US immigration services are messed up. While some people have to go through so much c r a p because they are in love, you are backing up the system because you are playing games.

IF you want to do something like that you better think where you are posting things. That is fraud, and taken very very seriously in this Country

That won't work. That's immigration fraud and they can fine you and even put you in prison. Marrying someone just to get citizenship won't work anymore with all the new requirements and interviews and pretty much the whole citizenship process. They designed it to weed out the people with the same idea as you. They only want people who are genuine about their marriage. It would also take more than a few months to get her over here since you would have to apply for a resident visa for her first if she plans on living in the US. That could take up to a year. Then once she has the visa to come over, it takes about 7 years to become a US citizen. That's only if you do it the legal and right way. If her family are in the US, and have, I believe, residency, they can apply for her to come over as a resident to if they are able to sponsor her. Stay away from you idea as it would be bad for both of you, and would surely not work and only result in her deportation and at least a 10 year ban on her trying to get into the US even if she tried to apply for a visa.
